Statement of Faith

We Believe

God:

We believe in the one and only true living God [1] who is an infinite all-knowing Spirit [2], perfect in all His attributes [3], just [4], loving [5], one in essence, eternally existing in three Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit each equally deserving of our worship, praise and obedience [6]. We believe that God made all of creation[7].

God the Father:

We believe that God the Father is the first Person in the Godhead known as the Trinity [8]. He is the One to whom we direct our prayers and cry “Abba Father” [9]. He is infinite [10], omnipresent [11], all powerful [12], immeasurable, and sovereign over all of creation. [13].

God the Son:

We believe that God the Son is the second Person in the Godhead. He is the only begotten Son of God [14]; the Word made flesh [15]. It is Him, whom in which all things were made and consist [16] God the Father sent Him to earth to live a sinless life and shed His precious blood on the cross for the remission of sins [17]. He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father, but through Him [18]. He will return again and reign on earth during the millennium [19].

God the Holy Spirit:

We believe that God the Holy Spirit is the third Person in the Godhead. He used men as a tool to write down the words of God [20]. He reproves the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment [21], thus drawing them to Christ. He is inside every born again believer, and regenerates and seals them at the time of salvation [22] . In the believer’s life He convicts them of sin, gives them understanding [23], teaches them [24], fills them with joy and peace [25], and sanctifies them [26].

Salvation:

That everyone but the Godhead (as described above) and the faithful angels have sinned and deserve hell [27]. That God sent His only begotten Son into the world to shed His sinless blood on the cross, be buried, and rise again three days later [28]. That faith and repentance work hand-in-hand at salvation [29]. That Christ was sufficient for all [30]. That baptism is a show of faith and an act of obedience [31]. That the baptism of the Holy Spirit occurs at salvation [32].  That we cannot obtain nor maintain salvation by any work, lest we boast, but that only through the grace of God and faith in Christ, can we be saved [33]. All who come to Him and believe and repent from sin, are saved for all eternity and cannot lose their salvation [34].

The Church:

The definition of a church is a local group of believers gathered together for the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ. There is also a universal church which encompasses all saints globally.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Lighthouse is not a replacement for a local church. We are simply a ministry of like-minded believers that are working together and playing together. Also it is important that you are active in a local church, so as not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

The Bible:

That the Bible is holy and inerrant and the only issue ever is our understanding/translation/ actions [35]. Also, the Bible has been and will be preserved [36]. That the word of God is a seed that is planted in us that can sprout unto salvation [37]. That the Bible is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness to equip the believer for Christ in this world [38]. There is only one true interpretation of scripture which is through exegesis and guiding of the Holy Spirit. [39].

Creation:

We believe in a literal 6-day creation as described in the book of Genesis [40]. That Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, thereby allowing sin into the world [41], and that the earth was flooded because of the wickedness that overtook the earth that sprouted from this offense, leaving only Noah and those on the ark with him to survive [42].

Separation and Rebuke:

We believe in Biblical separation from error and people that wantonly practice such errors, including wayward brethren will experience this separation [43]. We also believe in rebuke and reproof to erring brothers in Christ to restore them unto fellowship and the joy of the LORD [44].

Sin:

We believe that all sin is evil, and that it is contrary to God. We believe that sin includes the following (and more): sex with anyone you are not married to, sex with someone of the same gender, lying, stealing, blasphemy, idolatry, murder, unbelief in God, greed, covetousness, laziness, and anything you do not do that you know is right [45]. And if these things are done in your heart, it is as if they were done to God. We believe we should hate sin, but not those who commit it. We should desire that they seek Christ and repent. [46]

Future Events:

As a preface to the rest of this, we believe we can only have a general idea of the future written about in Revelation and other prophecies in the bible. That being said, we believe that most of the events in the prophetic books are yet to come. We believe that Christ will return soon and that He will not touch the earth, but take all who believe and the dead in Christ off of the earth [47]. We believe in the judgement seat of Christ where every believer is to account for what they have done and said [48]. We believe in the 7 years of Jacob’s trouble as a time period of tribulation [49]. We believe afterward there will be the thousand year reign of Christ, in which Christ will return again, this time touching the earth to reign [50]. And after that the Great White Throne Judgement will happen -which is the final judgment of all who have ever lived- [51]. We believe that those in hell will be cast into the lake of fire in the end [52]. And after all this God will make a new heaven and a new earth. And we shall abide on the new earth [53].
